This course is designed for personnel who supervise the asbestos project and ensures that proper asbestos work procedures as well as individual safety procedures are being adhered to. This course is conducted over a minimum of five days. The total instruction time of 40 hours includes both formal classroom and hands on training. Successful completion of this course will enable the individual to apply for Contractor/Supervisor certification by New York State, fulfills EPA accreditation requirements and satisfies OSHA Training requirements for Class I and Class II asbestos supervisors.
Topics include: Core Topics (History, Identification, Current Regulations, Health Effects, Protective Clothing, Abatement Control Options), PPE (hands-on), State of the Art Work Practices, Personal Hygiene, Medical Monitoring, Work Area Prep (hands-on), Engineering Control Techniques (hands-on), Decontamination Systems (hands-on), Clean-up & Disposal (hands-on), Other Safety Hazards, Air Monitoring & Testing (hands-on), PPE Programs, Insurance/Liability, Recordkeeping (hands-on), Supervisory Techniques and Contract Specifications.
