This course is designed for personnel who serve as an on-site representative of the building owner to oversee asbestos abatement work and/or collect air samples. This course is conducted over a minimum of five days. The total instruction time of 40 hours includes both formal classroom and hands on training. Successful completion of this course will enable the individual to apply for Project Monitor certification by New York State.
Topics include: Core Topics (History, Identification, Current Regulations, Health Effects, Protective Clothing, Abatement Control Options), PPE (hands-on), State of the Art Work Practices, Personal Hygiene, Medical Monitoring, Decontamination Systems (hands-on), Understanding Building Systems, Response Actions & Abatement Practices, Air Monitoring Strategies, Asbestos Abatement Equipment (hands-on), Abatement Contract Specifications, Recordkeeping (hands-on), Responsibilities of the Project Monitor and Safety & Health Issues.
