This 8-hour course is designed for personnel who either currently hold a valid EPA/NYS Asbestos Handler certification or have successfully completed a NYS approved Asbestos Handler training program within the past 12-months. The total instruction time of 8-hours solely includes formal classroom training only. Successful completion of this course will enable personnel to remove, encapsulate, enclose, repair or disturb asbestos, or who may handle asbestos in any manner which may result in the release of asbestos fibers while working under the direct supervision of a certified NYS Asbestos Abatement Contractor/Supervisor.
Course Topics to include: Federal, State & Local Asbestos Regulations, Asbestos Handler Roles & Responsibilities, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Abatement Work Practices, Medical Surveillance & Monitoring, Personal Hygiene & Decontamination Systems, Work Area Preparation & Installation of Protective Barriers/Containments, Clean-up & Disposal, Safety Hazards, Decon Construction & Establishment of Regulated Abatement Work Area, Asbestos Handler Workshop/Case Study, Final Examination (multiple choice), Etc.
